Protecting your privacy is our priority. This Privacy Notice applies to SEIU Education and Support Fund (collectively, “SEIU ESF,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), https://www.seiueducation.org/, its related websites that link to this document, and all other interactions in which SEIU ESF collects information in connection with the services it offers (the "Services"). The SEIU ESF website is a news and information site.

The Information we Collect

Information we Collect Directly From You

We collect a variety of information that you provide directly to us. For example, we collect information from you through:

(a) registering for an account on our Services;

(b) entering a sweepstakes or contest sponsored by us or one of our partners;

(c) signing up for special offers from selected third parties;

(d) sending us messages either via email or online forms

(e) submitting your credit card or other payment information when making purchases on the Services

In order to provide the Services and for the purposes noted in this Privacy Notice, SEIU

ESF may collect information, such as your:

● Identifiers (Name, Phone Number, Email Address, Alias, Signature)

● Location information (City, State, Zip Code)

● Potentially legally protected classification information (Military or veteran status, Religious or philosophical belief, Sexual orientation or gender identity, Marital status and number of children, Race, Ethnicity, National origin)

● Financial information (such as your credit card in connection with a payment)

● Compensation information (Income, Salary, Pension, Retirement)

● Professional information (Schooling, Degrees, Licenses, and Professional membership)

● Survey answers

● Disability information

● Government identification information (Social Security Number, Tax Information)

● Audio and visual information (Video content, audio recordings, photographs, telemetry data)

● Union Membership

● Other information that directly or indirectly identifies you (Date of birth, Age, Gender, Citizenship)

Information We Collect Through Automated Means

When you use the Services, we and our service providers (who are third parties that perform services on our behalf under contract) automatically collect certain

information including your IP address, browser type, browser language, operating system, the state or country from which you accessed the Services, software and hardware attributes (including device IDs) referring and exit pages and URLs, platform type, the number of clicks, files you download, domain names, landing pages, pages viewed and the order of those pages, the amount of time spent on particular pages, the date and time you used the websites, error logs, and other similar information.

From your IP address, we may be able to infer your general location (e.g., city/state or postal code). This data is used to determine what SEIU ESF services are the most popular and deliver customized content and advertising within SEIU ESF to customers whose behavior indicates that they are interested in a particular subject area. To collect this information, we and our service providers may use “cookies”. Please see the Use of Cookies section below for more information.

Information We Collect From Others

We may receive additional information such as demographic and statistical information from third parties and sources, such as business partners, marketers, researchers, analysts, public records, and others that we may attribute to you based on your assignment to certain statistical groups. We use this information to supplement the information that we collect directly from you in order to derive your possible interests and provide more relevant experiences for you and improve our websites, analytics, and advertising.

Use of your Information

We use your information for various purposes depending on the types of information

we have collected from and about you, in order to:

• Provide you with access to our Services

• Respond to your requests for information and provide you with more

effective and efficient customer service

• Customize the content you see on our Services

• Help us better understand your interests, and improve our Services

• Engage in analysis and research regarding use of the Services and develop new products

• Measure the effectiveness of our advertising and deliver relevant advertising to you

• Secure our Services and resolve technical issues being reported

• Comply with any procedures, laws, and regulations which apply to us where it is necessary for our legitimate interests or the legitimate interests of others

• Establish, exercise, or defend our legal rights where it is necessary for our legitimate interests or the legitimate interests of others.

• In accordance with applicable legal requirements, SEIU ESF may also use your information to contact you by email, postal mail, or phone, to inform you of other products or services available from SEIU ESF and its affiliates.

Cookies, Online Advertising, and Analytics Use of Cookies. The SEIU ESF website may use "cookies" to personalize your online experience and understand more about how you use our websites. A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you. We use various types of cookies and similar technologies, including pixels, gifs, web beacons, and other tracking technologies, and first and third-party cookies. Cookies can be persistent by remaining on your computer until you delete them or be based on your browsing session where they delete once you close your browser. First party cookies are used and controlled by us to provide our services. You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the interactive features of the SEIU ESF services or websites you visit.

Analytics. We may use third-party web analytics services (such as those of Google Analytics) on our Services to collect and analyze usage information through cookies and similar tools; engage in auditing, research, or reporting; assist with fraud prevention; and provide certain features to you. To prevent Google Analytics from using your information for analytics, you may install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on by clicking here. If you receive emails from us, we may use certain analytics tools, such as clear GIFs to capture data such as when you open our message or click on any links or banners our email contains. This data allows us to gauge the effectiveness of our communications and marketing campaigns.

Online advertising. On our websites, we may allow select third-party advertising technology partners to place cookies or other tracking technologies on the browser of your device to collect information about you as discussed above. These third parties (e.g., ad networks and ad servers such as Google and others) may use this information to serve relevant content and advertising to you as you browse the Internet, and access their own cookies or other tracking technologies on your browser to assist in this activity. How we Disclose Information

We may disclose your information in the following ways:

• Service Providers. We provide access to or disclose your information to select third parties who perform services on our behalf. They provide a variety of services to us, including data hosting and storage, advertising and marketing, website content and features, analytics, research, customer service, security, fraud prevention, and legal services. All such third parties are prohibited from using your information except to provide these services to SEIU ESF, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information.

• Affiliates and Subsidiaries. We may disclose the information we collect within our affiliates and subsidiaries for the purposes outlined in this Privacy Notice.

• Protection of SEIU ESF and Others. By using our Services, you acknowledge and agree that we may access, retain, and disclose the information we collect and maintain about you if required to do so by law or in a good faith belief that such access, retention or disclosure is reasonably necessary to: (a) comply with legal process (e.g. a subpoena or court order); (b) enforce any contracts with you, if relevant; (c) respond to claims that any content violates the rights of third parties; (d) protect the rights, property or personal safety of SEIU ESF, its agents and affiliates, its users and/or the public.

• Business Transactions. In accordance with applicable legal obligations, your information may be provided to third parties in connection with a business transaction involving all or a portion of our organization or our assets.

• With your consent. We may disclose your information for other reasons when you provide us with consent to do so.

Aggregate/De-Identified Information. We may aggregate and/or de-identify any information collected through our Services and services so that such information can no longer be linked to you or your device (“Aggregate/De-Identified Information”). We may use such information for any purpose, including without limitation for research and marketing purposes, and may also disclose such data to any third parties, including advertisers, partners, and sponsors.

Combined Information. For the purposes discussed in this Privacy Notice, we may combine the information that we collect through the Services with information that we receive from other sources, both online and offline, and use such combined information in accordance with this Privacy Notice.

Your Rights Depending on your jurisdiction of residence, you may have certain rights with respect to your information as further described in this section. If you would like further information in relation to your legal rights under applicable law or would like to exercise any of them, please contact us using the information in the “Contact Information” section below at any time. Your local laws may permit you to request that we:

• provide access to and/or a copy of certain information we hold about you

• update information which is out of date or incorrect

• delete certain information which we are holding about you

• restrict the way that we process and disclose certain of your information

on profiling)

We will consider all requests and provide our response within the period stated by applicable law and as otherwise required by applicable law. Please note, however, that certain information may be exempt from such requests in some circumstances, which may include if we need to keep processing your information for our legitimate interests or to comply with a legal obligation. We may request you provide us with information necessary to confirm your identity before responding to your request.

Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to appeal our decision to deny your request. If we deny your request, we will provide you with information on how to appeal the decision, if applicable, in our communications with you.

Notice of Right to Opt Out of Sales of Personal Information and Sharing/Processing of Personal Information for Targeted Advertising Purposes

We provide information about your device and online browsing activities to third-party advertising providers for targeted advertising and related purposes, so that we can provide you with more relevant and tailored ads regarding our Services and services.

The disclosure of your information to these third parties to assist us in providing these services may be considered a “sale” of "personal information" under applicable law or the disclosure of personal information for "targeted advertising" purposes (as all such terms are defined under applicable law).

If you would like to opt out of our online disclosure such as through cookie and pixel technology of your personal information for purposes that could be considered “sales”for those third parties' own commercial purposes, or disclosure for purposes of targeted advertising, please see the "Online Analytics and Advertising" section above. You can also submit a request to opt out of our disclosures of information that are subject to applicable opt out rights by emailing us at operations@seiuesf.org. Please note that if you have a legally-recognized browser-based opt out preference signal turned on via your device browser, (e.g., global privacy control) we recognize such preference in accordance with applicable law.

Marketing Communications

You may instruct us not to use your contact information to contact you regarding our projects, initiatives, the projects or initiatives of our partners, or other relevant communications that we believe will be interesting to you by contacting us using the information below. In our marketing email messages, you can also opt out by following the instructions located at the bottom of such emails or messages or, you may opt out of such communications here. Please note that, regardless of your request, we may still use and disclose certain information as permitted by this Privacy Notice or as required by applicable law. For example, you may not opt out of certain transactional emails from us, such as those confirming your requests or providing you with updates regarding our Privacy Notice or other terms.

Third Party Links

Our websites may contain links to third-party websites or services. If you choose to use these links and features, please note that we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, and that the use of such links and features may result in information such as your IP address and information collected through cookies being shared with the third parties that control these links and features. The collection, use, and disclosure of your information will be subject to the privacy policies of such third parties, and not this Privacy Notice. We urge you to read the privacy policies of these third parties if you choose to interact with these links and features.

Social Sharing Features

The Services may offer social sharing features and other integrated tools (such as the Facebook “Like” button), which let you disclose actions you take on our Services with other media, and vice versa. Your use of such features enables the sharing of information with your friends or the public, depending your privacy for the relevant social media site. For more information about the purpose and scope of data collection and processing in connection with social sharing features, please visit the privacy policies of the entities that provide these features.

International Users

Because SEIU ESF is based in the United States, please note that your information may be processed and stored in the United States and other jurisdictions around the world where we or our service providers are located, and that such jurisdictions may have different privacy laws than those in your jurisdiction. Whenever your information is transferred, stored, or processed by us, we take reasonable steps to protect your information in accordance with this Privacy Notice and applicable laws. These measures may include implementing standard contractual clauses to govern the transfer of your information, or other means recognized by applicable laws. By providing us with your information, you acknowledge any such transfer, storage, or processing. If you have any concerns or complaints about our data processing activities, we urge you to first try to resolve such issues directly with us. However, if applicable, you may make a complaint to the data protection supervisory authority in the country where you are based, or seek a remedy through local courts if you believe your rights have been breached.

How We Protect Your Information

SEIU ESF takes a variety of technical and organizational security measures to protect the information provided to us from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no Internet or email transmission is ever fully secure or error free. Please keep this in mind when disclosing any information to us online.

Retention

The information we collect, including sensitive personal information, will be retained for as long as necessary to satisfy the purposes for which it was collected and our legal obligations. As described above, these purposes include our business operations and complying with reporting, legal and accounting obligations.

Changes to this Privacy Notice

SEIU ESF reserves the right to change this Privacy Notice from time to time. We will notify you about significant changes in the way we treat information in accordance with applicable law. Your continued use of the Services and/or Services available through this Services after such modifications will constitute your acknowledgment of the modified Privacy Notice.
