The 509 Public Sector Training Fund provides training opportunities and financial support for the SEIU Local 509 Public Sector workforce to achieve and maintain the skills, ability, and knowledge necessary to meet the ever changing needs of the people of Massachusetts.
About the Training Fund; An Overview
The Commonwealth and SEIU Local 509 signed an agreement to create a labor/management training fund, called the SEIU Local 509 Commonwealth Human Service Workers and Educators Training Professional Development Fund. SEIU Local 509 and the Commonwealth have a long history of sponsoring other trust funds focused on Dental and Vision benefits. This Fund is focused solely on training and professional development and will be supported by a bargained contribution from the Commonwealth.
We achieve this through offering Trainings and Professional Development for members and Post-secondary Tuition Scholarships for members and their families.

All human service and education workers will have access to high-quality, worker-centered professional development opportunities, leading to better outcomes for our community and individuals served.
OUR GOVERNANCE
This Fund is overseen by 6 trustees, 3 appointed by the Commonwealth and 3 appointed by SEIU Local 509 from bargaining units 8 and 10.
